WE NEED YOU! The Akin PTA is completely volunteer run, and the support of our volunteers is critical to the success of our students and teachers! We appreciate our volunteers and many of the activities on campus wouldn't happen without volunteers. The most important step is to sign up to be an approved volunteer with Leander ISD. Signing up is a free online process:
Once you are signed up and an approved volunteer, you will be able to get our weekly emails with reminders and volunteer opportunities. You are never obligated to volunteer, but you will be informed of opportunities that meet your schedule and interests. Some examples of ways to volunteer are: The book fair, APEX, Field Day, and covering Teacher lunches. Volunteer for 1 shift or 10, it's totally up to you!

WATCH D.O.G.S.
During the day, Watch DOGS may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. Many school principals have reported that the mere presence of a Watch DOG dramatically reduces reports of bullying.
LISD Clothes Closet
The Clothes Closet is operated by friendly, helpful LISD PTA volunteers. The purpose of the Clothes Closet is to provide gently worn, clean, school clothing as well as brand new underwear and socks, to students in need ages 4 through 18 or pre-K through high school. The only qualification for families to shop at the Clothes Closet is that their student attends an LISD school. Each family needs to obtain one voucher per child from the school nurse.
